Performa 15 Hub Competition
For the first time, the design for Performa's biennial headquarters—the Hub—was conceived as an architectural competition that would activate dialogues concerning the transformative nature of architecture and the indivisible relationship between performance and its environment.
A select group of international and New York architects were invited to submit their visions for a responsive architecture that would ally itself to the changing needs of Performa 15's programming, spanning screenings, seminars and talks, classes, artists' experiments, food events, and performances. An Advisory Committee, composed of distinguished professionals from the worlds of architecture, art, and design, guided the selection process, and from 12 talented finalists the proposal by Christoph a. Kumpusch and his office Forward slash (/) ARCHITEKTUR was chosen for the design of the Performa 15 Hub.
