Artists Cassius Fadlabi and Lars Cuzner discuss European Attraction Limited, their collaborative 2014 project that reconstructed "The Congo Village", a human zoo presented as part of the 1914 World's Fair in Oslo. The project explored this confusing chapter in Norway's history, looking at its current legacy through the lens of public misrepresentation and historical amnesia.
Their resucitation of this history, of exhibiting non-white or non-Western people for public spectacle, aimed to trace the lineage between two Scandinavian cultural imaginaries both past and present: the past narrative of racial superiority and the collective feeling of moral superiority today.
