Jonathas de Andrade

Jonathas de Andrade (b. 1982, Maceió, Brazil) investigates universal questions of love, desire, and modernity through the individual histories and local culture of Northeast Brazil.

His work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including Museu de Arte do Rio, Rio de Janeiro (2014); Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York (2014); Centro Cultural São Paulo, São Paulo (2014); Kunsthalle Lissabon, Lisbon (2013); and Musée d'art Contemporain de Montréal, Montreal (2013). De Andrade participated in the the 10th Gwangju Biennial, Gwangju (2014); 11th Dakar Biennial, Senegal (2014); Lyon Biennial, Lyon (2013); The New Museum Triennial, New York (2012); and Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul (2011), among others.
